All-rounder Ruaidhri Smith has signed a two-year contract extension which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2021 season.
The 25-year-old has played 29 First-Class matches for Glamorgan, taking 65 wickets with a career-best of 5/87 against Durham in 2018.
Smith has also represented Scotland in two ODIs and two IT20s, and was the 4th highest wicket-taker at the 2012 U19 Cricket World Cup.
Despite an injury hit 2019 season, he took 3/21 on his return in the Vitality Blast fixture against Surrey and finished the competition with five wickets in just 14 overs.
Smith took a wicket with his first ball in first-class cricket, dismissing Kent’s Brendan Nash, but his finest hour in a Glamorgan shirt came in 2018 on his 24th birthday.
He took 4/6 in the Vitality Blast against Middlesex at Richmond, as he ripped through the Middlesex top order and claimed the most economical spell in the club’s T20 history.
“I’m really happy to have signed for two more years with Glamorgan,” said Smith.
“After a frustrating season with injuries, I was pleased to return strongly towards the end of the summer. Hopefully I can now make the most of the winter break to prepare physically and keep improving my game, contributing to a successful season for the team.
“Having grown up in Cardiff supporting Glamorgan, it was always a dream to represent the county and I look forward to doing so for the next couple of seasons.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Ruaidhri has demonstrated his quality on many occasions.
“He is capable of bowling at good pace with good control, and his ability with the bat means he has the potential to develop into a genuine all-rounder.
“He’s a multi-format player, who we’re excited to see fulfil his potential at the club.”
