Chris Cooke, Glamorgan’s captain, this afternoon equalled the Club’s wicket-keeping record for the most dismissals in a first-class match by claiming nine victims in the Welsh county’s Bob Willis Trophy game against Worcestershire at New Road (writes Andrew Hignell).
Having claimed three catches and a stumping in Worcestershire’s first innings, Chris claimed four further catches plus another stumping in the second innings today to take his match tally to a record-equalling nine.
Two other wicket-keepers – Colin Metson and Mark Wallace - have also completed nine dismissals in a first-class match for the Welsh county , with each coincidentally achieving the feat in games at New Road as well as once elsewhere. Metson firstly took nine in the game with Worcestershire at Worcester in 1993 before repeating the feat against Surrey at The Oval, 1995. Mark Wallace achieved the feat against Derbyshire at Colwyn Bay in 2016 as well as at New Road during the same summer.
