Chris Cooke scored the 1000th first-class hundred in Glamorgan’s history during the third day of the Welsh county’s Vitality Championship match against Derbyshire at Sophia Gardens (writes Andrew Hignell)

The first was scored in 1921 by Cardiff policeman Billy Spiller, against Northamptonshire at Northampton and the list below shows the other landmark innings in the journey towards the 1,000-mark.

200th: Bernard Hedges - 103 v Sussex at Chichester, 1950.                            

300th: Alan Jones - 187* v Somerset at Glastonbury, 1963.

500th: Geoff Holmes - 106 v Worcestershire at Abergavenny, 1985.                           

600th: Adrian Dale - 140 v Gloucestershire at Abergavenny, 1991.                             

700th: Steve James - 109 v Yorkshire at Headingley, 1997.                                           

800th: Jonny Hughes - 110 v Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens, 2004.
