The evergreen seam bowler came into the contest requiring one further victim to reach his personal landmark and after going wicketless in Northamptonshire’s first innings, Michael duly claimed his 600th first-class wicket by dismissing Luke Procter, courtesy of a catch by wicket-keeper Chris Cooke shortly before the East Midlands side wrapped up a six-wicket victory..

This was Michael’s 376th first-class wicket for Glamorgan with his impressive career tally also including 224 wickets for Western Australia for whom he played until 2015/16. During this time, he claimed 126 first-class wickets at the WACA ground in Perth, as well as hauls of 66 wickets against South Australia and 50 against Tasmania.

In terms of his county career, Sophia Gardens has been the 39-year-old’s most successful hunting ground in first-class cricket, taking 136 wickets at 22.47 apiece at his adopted home with his tally including 6 five-wicket hauls plus a match return of 10/125 against Kent during 2014. The latter have also been the county against whom he has enjoyed most success whilst bowing for the Welsh county having claimed 53 wickets against them, with his next highest being 52 against Gloucestershire.
