STAT ATTACK - Timm reaches milestones at Trent Bridge

16 Apr 2022 | Cricket

The LV=County Championship match between Nottinghamshire and Glamorgan at Trent Bridge has been a personal success for Timm van der Gugten, with the Welsh county’s Dutch international reaching career milestones with both bat and ball (writes Andrew Hignell)

Van der Gugten came into the match at Nottingham with a career record of 948 runs in all first-class games. Batting at number ten in the Welsh county’s line-up, Timm proceeded to post a vibrant 62 from 115 balls during a late flourish in Glamorgan’s first innings to reach the landmark of 1,000 runs in all first-class cricket.

Having taken a couple of wickets in Nottinghamshire’s first innings, Timm then produced a spell of 4-8 in nine overs in their second innings to stifle the home county’s progress. When Timm had James Pattinson caught by Sam Northeast at second slip, it was his 200th wicket in all first-class cricket.
