Tom Bevan, the young batter from Cardiff, broke the Glamorgan Club record this afternoon for the highest-ever individual score in T20 cricket. (writes Andrew Hignell)

The 22 year-old who plays for St Fagans CC, made 132 from just 69 balls in the semi-final of the Second Eleven T20 competition against Middlesex 2nd XI at Arundel Castle, with his record-breaking innings containing 10 fours and 9 sixes.

The previous highest for Glamorgan had been Ian Thomas’ 116* made against Somerset at Taunton in 2004, whilst the best in a 2nd XI match had previously been the unbeaten 115 made by Nick Selman against Nottinghamshire 2nd XI, coincidently in the semi-final of the 2019 tournament at the same ground en route to the Welsh county beating Hampshire 2nd XI in the final.

Tom's innings proved to be a good omen as Glamorgan, after their victory over Middlesex, went on to defeat Leicestershire 2nd XI in the final by five wickets as they became 2nd XI T20 champions for 2022.
