An Open Evening will take place at Sophia Gardens for the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport run by Glamorgan Cricket in partnership with TVS Education and Fitzalan HS on 18th November between 1630 and 1830 in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket.

The Level 3 BTEC in Sport (Extended Diploma; Development, Coaching and Fitness) is a two-year programme based at Sophia Gardens. The programme combines the Sport BTEC (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) with fitness, skills and coaching development by Glamorgan Cricket staff.
It is a full-time programme with learners expected to attend sessions at Sophia Gardens each Monday to Thursday 9am to 3pm with Friday being an independent study day. Learners are provided with full kit (at a subsidised cost) but the course itself, is fully funded so long as this is their first full-time level 3 qualification.
The course is run in partnership with Fitzalan HS where learners are able to re-sit their GCSE Maths and English if required. TVS Education is a private training provider specialising in re-engaging learners through the vehicle of sport and work with a number of football, rugby and cricket clubs across the UK.
Glamorgan CCC provides the venue and coaches, with learners will studying for 2-3 hours a day in addition to training for 2 hours four times a week. There will be many opportunities for both volunteer and paid work in and around Sophia Gardens, opportunities to attend matches and competitions for free and to study alongside sporting professionals such as analysts, stadium managers, nutritionists, ex- professionals and physiotherapists.
The course also includes visits to USW and Cardiff Met during the first two terms where learners are provided with the opportunity to undertake fitness testing in the sports labs besides having an analysis work shop in the Cardiff Met Mac suite.
