Glamorgan's Chief Executive Hugh Morris is targeting an upward curve in performances and support for the team this coming season, and hopes this trend will continue into 2015 and beyond.
Morris said, With a few days to go until our first home game of the new season, we're pleased to report our membership revenue is taking an upward turn this year, and interest in the NatWest T20 Blast schedule is strong, even though we are 6 weeks out from the first match at the SWALEC Stadium.
Although our Championship results were disappointing last year, our victory in the first LV=CC match of the season at the Kia Oval last week has given everyone a lift. As a Club we're keen to push on and keep improving, by playing exciting cricket, and most importantly, producing a winning team people wish to come through the gates to support.
With the new fixture schedule we hope Sundays will provide supporters with regular weekend cricket and quality time with the family, whilst six Friday night T20 games provide the opportunity to grow our supporter base.
The SWALEC Stadium offers a great environment in which to watch live sport, the facilities here are a far cry from when I was last employed by Glamorgan, before the Stadium re-development, and it really is a fantastic venue, which receives great reviews from ECB, players and supporters alike.
As well as the seating which offers a superb view, we still have availability within the 125 Club for new members to join and our Premier Membership category offers access to the pitch facing Premier Lounge, plus there's the Members' lounge on the ground floor which is available to all members.
A lot of hard work has been done both on and off the field, and we are still receiving renewals through the post, as well as welcoming new supporters purchasing online or direct to our ticket office ahead of the opening first-class contest against Gloucestershire in Cardiff. This opening match gets underway at 11:00 on Sunday 20th April.
Another exciting offering is the T20 Blast Season Ticket priced at only £50, its ideal for spectators who enjoy the shortest form of the game and who wish to start their weekends in style, with all that Cardiff has to offer on our doorstep. Alternatively One-Day membership gives the added benefit of entry to the new-look Royal London One Day Cup fixtures as well, which returns to the 50-over format mirroring international cricket - a format which Glamorgan were successful in 1993 - 21 years ago. We are once again sporting the retro-look kit of that time and hope to go one better than last year when we reached the final at Lord's.
Hugh Morris continued, This new fixture schedule is here for the next 4 years, and provides spectators with a regular weekly slots to watch their favourite formats of the game. Last year the SWALEC Stadium welcomed over 150,000 people with the majority attending live cricket matches, including the successful ICC Champions Trophy, and we enjoyed bumper T20 attendances for the Friday night games. We encourage supporters to book their place early with ticket sales already picking up.
Our aim at Glamorgan CCC is to make Wales proud of what we do both on and off the field. With a One Day International between England and India on 27th August, and an exciting schedule of domestic matches, including the new NatWest Blast T20 competition, the supporters of the game in Wales will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy top class cricket this summer.
