Match Preview

After their match against Middlesex on Saturday at Cardiff, Glamorgan's 50-overs squad will head east along the M4 motorway before travelling to the southern side of the London conurbation to reach a ground where they have never previously played a one-day game.

Indeed, Glamorgan have only played once before at Guildford - back in August 1982 - in a County Championship encounter with Surrey winning an enthralling three-day contest by two wickets. Glamorgan declared on 360/7 in their first innings with Rodney Ontong and Greg Thomas making 88 and 84 respectively before Geoff Howarth, the Kiwi Test batsman made 156 in surrey's first innings. Javed Miandad and John Hopkins then each made centuries in Glamorgan's second innings before Monte Lynch struck an unbeaten 141 to see Surrey home in what had been a high-scoring contest.

Glamorgan have beaten Surrey in their visits to Surrey in the other forms of the game during 2014 having won the Championship contest at The Kia Oval by ten wickets back in April and the Twenty20 match at Surrey's headquarters by four runs earlier this month. The Welsh county will therefore be looking to making it three out of three in their away matches with Surrey.
