Match Preview

This is Glamorgan's final List A one-day match of the season as the Welsh county's defeat in the rain-affected contest last Thursday at the St.Helen's ground in Swansea against Warwickshire, meant that they cannot qualify for the last-eight of this competition. Indeed, the Sharks also cannot make the last eight of the Royal London One-Day Cup after a series of reversals during the past couple of weeks.

The last two List A matches between Glamorgan and Sussex at Hove have each been abandoned, with the contest in August 2010 and May 2007 falling foul of the English weather. In fact, the last time Glamorgan took to the field at the Hove ground for a one-day match was back in August 2006, but it proved to be a game which the visitors would rather forget as Matt Prior blasted an imperious 141 off just 86 balls as Sussex romped to victory with nine wickets and no less than fifteen overs in hand.

Sussex were the victors when the two sides met at Hove in 1999 and 2001, with the home side winning by 54 and 34 runs respectively, but Glamorgan won the game in August 1998 by 37 runs. Tony Cottey took the batting honours that day for Glamorgan in the 40-overs per side contest with a fine 63, before Adrian Dale claimed 4/36 and Dean Cosker 3/39, with the latter also ending the game by producing a superb piece of fielding to run out Mark Robinson who is now the Sussex head coach.
