T20 Week Four: Preview

Glamorgan\'s clash with Gloucestershire is not the only match in the NatWest T20 Blast taking place this week. There are eight other fixtures taking place in a full compliment of matches across the county. Here is a statisical look around the grounds.

SOUTH GROUP

Surrey v Hampshire (Thursday night, The Oval)

– Four of the last five matches between these teams have been won by the chasing side.
– Surrey have won three of their last four home games; they did lose their most recent fixture there however (v Glamorgan).
– Jason Roy (Surrey) has hit more fours than anyone else so far in 2016 (23).
– Adam Wheater (Hampshire) posted his highest T20 score (78) when these sides last met (July 2015).

Gloucestershire v Glamorgan (Friday night, Bristol)
– 15 of the last 17 games between these sides have been won by the chasing side.
– Glamorgan have won three of their last four matches played in Bristol versus Gloucestershire (L1).
– Gloucestershire have won four of their last five (L1).
– Only Matthew Critchley (Derbyshire Falcons, 5.1) has a better economy rate than Glamorgan’s Craig Meschede this term (5.2, 5+ overs).

Somerset v Surrey (Friday night, Taunton)

– Six of the seven games previously played out between Somerset and Surrey have been won by the latter (L1).
– Surrey’s last nine matches away have been won by the side who batted first (W4, L5).
– Roelof van der Merwe (Somerset) has the joint highest strike rate of any batsman to face 15+ balls this summer (200 off 34 balls).
– No bowler has a better death over economy rate this summer than Tom Curran (2+ overs, 4.5).

Essex Eagles v Middlesex (Friday night, Chelmsford)

– Essex Eagles have only lost one of their last five at home to Middlesex (W4).
– The last seven encounters between Essex Eagles and Middlesex have been won by the chasing team.
– Middlesex lost their most recent match on the road, it came against Essex Eagles in Chelmsford (July 2015).
– Jesse Ryder is 41 runs shy of reach 3,000 T20 runs.

Sussex v Kent Spitfires (Friday night, Hove)

– Five of the last six encounters between the Sharks and Spitfires have been won by the Kent outfit (L1).
– Kent Spitfires have tasted defeat only once in five games on the road (W4); that loss did come in their only away game in 2016 so far however.
– Ross Taylor (Sussex Sharks) has struck more sixes than anyone else in this campaign (11).
– Chris Nash (Sussex Sharks) has scored 82 runs from drives this term; a competition-high.

NORTH GROUP

Worcestershire Rapids v Northamptonshire Steelbacks (Friday night, New Road)

– Having previously lost eight matches in nine attempts versus the Rapids, the Steelbacks have since won back-to-back meetings.
– Worcestershire Rapids have claimed victory in five of their last seven matches (L2) while the Steelbacks have won three in a row.
– Northamptonshire Steelbacks have won six successive Friday matches; with their last such defeat coming against the Rapids last season.
– Brett D’Oliveira (Worcestershire Rapids) has the highest average of any batsman this season; currently holding a rate of 153 from his four innings.

Lancashire Lightning v Leicestershire Foxes (Friday night, Old Trafford)

– Lancashire Lightning are unbeaten in nine matches against the Foxes (W7 T2).
– Lancashire Lightning have won four consecutive home games versus Leicestershire Foxes.
– George Edwards (Lancashire Lightning) has taken four wickets in a match once before in T20s; it came in this exact fixture last summer (4/20).

Birmingham Bears v Yorkshire Vikings (Friday night, Edgbaston)
