Skipper David Lloyd could not fault the effort of his bowlers on the final day of their LV= County Championship match against Nottinghamshire.
Chasing an improbable 455 to win, Notts finished on 259 for four with the Welsh county picking up 14 points from the draw, which moved them to just one point behind Middlesex who sit in second place in the Division Two table.
"It was a very tough day all round for the bowlers, a long day, weirdly the pitch seemed to get better and today was the best time to bat on it throughout the four days," said Lloyd.
“We knew it was going to be tricky to bowl them out, but the effort the lads put in and the way we went about it was really spot on.
“We thought if we got a breakthrough we would have a chance to go bang, bang, and the way we bowled we were unlucky at times not to get a wicket.
“We have competed well against Notts over two games this year, but they batted really well today. We have put ourselves in a good position in this competition and there is no reason why we should not keep going right to the end.”
