Director of cricket Mark Wallace reflects on the release of Glamorgan's 2020 domestic fixtures and says it is an 'exciting' schedule.
Glamorgan open their Specsavers County Championship campaign against Middlesex on Sunday, 19th April, with their final match on Tuesday, 22nd September versus Worcestershire.
Wallace discusses the new-look Royal London Cup, the importance of playing at out-grounds to the club and the support the team can expect playing T20 cricket on a Friday night in Cardiff.
“It’s an exciting time of the year where you look at who you will be playing first, where you’ll be playing, but the season splits out quite nicely for us," said Mark Wallace.
“It’s nice to start the season at home. We have Cardiff MCCU at Sophia Gardens as a warm-up fixture and that will run in to our first match against Middlesex in the County Championship.
“We’ve got a number of games at out-grounds this year and that’s important for us to take the game across Wales. Colwyn Bay and Swansea are traditional venues, whereas Newport is new and will have two exciting Royal London Cup matches next year in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.
“We then have four Friday night Vitality Blast matches and Cardiff is a great place to play at the end of the week, it’s the easiest time for people to come out and support us in numbers.”
