Glamorgan’s top performances of 2017 were celebrated at the 44th annual Balconiers Awards at the Tower’s Hotel in Swansea last night.
Milestone achievements for David Lloyd, Kiran Carlson, Andrew Salter, Michael Hogan, Colin Ingram, Graham Wagg and Chris Cooke were all recognised, whilst there was also a special mention to Mark Wallace who hung up his boots at the start of this year following a remarkable career with the Welsh county to join the PCA.
The dinner was attended by 230 guests displaying the continued support the Balconiers and cricket in Swansea continues to receive, with John Williams once again displaying his skills in organising a successful event. The event concluded with an emotional tribute from Head Coach Robert Croft to the former Balconiers President, and legend of Glamorgan CCC, Don Shepherd, who sadly passed away in August.
Awards were also presented to Kieran Bull (2nd team player of the year), Lukas Carey (young player of the year), Roger Skyrme (clubman of the year) and to Michael Hogan who accepted the player of the year award on behalf of Colin Ingram from Club President Alan Jones, whilst the Balconiers also made donations to Glamorgan CCC and to their charity of the year Golau Cancer Foundation.
