The Hospitality and Catering Manager will actively manage the day to day running of the Stadium\'s catering and hospitality operation, lead and manage the provision of excellent customer service and our “warm Welsh welcome” for visitors, so that the reputation of The SSE SWALEC hospitality function continues to be enhanced.

POSITION: Hospitality and Catering Manager

Role: Contracted (40 hours per week)

Hours of work: Variable (hours as the business dictates, can include daytime, evening, weekends & bank holidays)

Salary: £26,000 - £29,000

Location: Glamorgan County Cricket Club, The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff, CF11 9XR

Job Summary

As the Hospitality and Catering Manager, you will lead and manage the provision of our “warm Welsh welcome” and excellent customer service to our visitors, so that the reputation of the SSE SWALEC hospitality function is enhanced and maintained.

This is a hands on role and the post holder will be actively involved managing the day to day running of the catering and hospitality operation. You must be passionate about the role, be a great communicator, show flair and encourage creative thinking within your team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the food and beverage operation for functions, events and match days;
  • Organising, leading and motivating the catering team;
  • Supervising catering and waiting staff at functions, events and on match days;
  • Leading by example in maintaining and looking to improve service standards;
  • Keeping financial and administrative records, budgeting and forecasting;
  • Managing and monitoring spending levels;
  • Maximising sales and meeting profit and financial expectations in line with annual budget;
  • Ensuring health and safety, fire, licensing and employment regulations are strictly observed;
  • Enhancing company image improving the brand reputation and profile;
  • Day-to-day troubleshooting and main point of contact;
  • Continue working relationships with the sales team, operation department and maintenance team;
  • Planning menus in consultation with chefs;
  • Planning staff shifts and rotas;
  • Interacting with customers and club members;
  • Maintaining stock levels and ordering new supplies and equipment as required;
  • Negotiating and liaising with external service providers and suppliers as required;
  • Involvement with recruiting and training permanent and casual staff;

  • Administrative ability and IT literacy;
  • Numeracy and financial skills in order to manage a budget;
  • An appreciation of customer expectations, commercial and brand demands;
  • Stamina and the ability to work under pressure whilst multitasking;
  • A well-organised approach to work;
  • Flexibility and the ability to solve problems in a pressurised environment;
  • Customer-facing experience at a 4 or 5 star venue;
  • Experience in improving service delivery;
  • Drive and determination to improve standards and profitability;
