View from the opposition: Surrey

Jason Roy makes a timely return for Surrey as they aim for revenge against Glamorgan in Cardiff on Friday.
Surrey have already lost twice at home to the Welsh county this season, once in the NatWest T20 Blast and once in the LV= County Championship, and have slumped to the bottom of the South Group at the halfway stage, not helped by no results in two of their seven matches - one washed out, and the other abandoned after the collision between Rory Burns and Moises Henriques in Arundel.

That also added to the club's lengthy injury list, which makes the availability of Roy especially valuable - and he is likely to be hungry for runs after the frustration of his latest dismissal on Tuesday, run out by his opening partner Alex Hales when he was starting to get going.

Graham Ford, Surrey's head coach, has tried to remain phlegmatic following his side's recent defeats. The former South Africa Test coach said:

In a busy county season you're going to hit some choppy waters along the way and you're going to have a setback, but it's how you respond to those setbacks that matters. One thing I do know is that the group of men in the dressing room are determined to bounce back. You have to wipe these things from the memory bank and move forwards.

Yet Ford admits he fears the fatigue factor setting in amongst his young and depleted squad. He added: It's been getting quite difficult to find 11 players of late, but you have to manage that and get through it.

It is challenging and, in a very busy month, these issues make it just that little bit more draining for the fellas. You find players are having to play one extra game, or the bowlers to bowl those extra overs, so the fatigue factor does kick in.

Surrey squad to be named at 4pm, Thursday
