Sussex Sharks travel to Cardiff for their second NatWest T20 Blast game in the space of three days today, as they face in-form Glamorgan this afternoon.
The Sharks clinched victory on Friday night against south-coast rivals Hampshire by seven wickets at the Ageas Bowl thanks to an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership between Craig Cachopa and Matt Machan, helping Sussex recover from 14 for 3 to cruise to victory. Cachopa struck his T20 Blast best by scoring 89 from 54 balls.
Sussex will be without bowlers Jimmy Anyon, Lewis Hatchett, Chris Jordan and Ajmal Shahzad due to injury, while Chris Nash will be assessed ahead of the match as he recovers from illness. Michael Yardy is also an injury doubt with a calf injury.
Australian batsman George Bailey comes into the Sharks' squad for the first time, replacing Mahela Jayawardena for the latter part of the T20 Blast season.
And Bailey says he is immensely excited about joining up with the Sharks, starting with the clash against Glamorgan today.
He said: I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the cricket club. Everyone I have spoken to in the lead-up to signing has been really complimentary about the culture and the people.
Australian ODI star Bailey joins former teammate and Sussex captain Luke Wright in an imposing visitors' batting lineup.
He added: I had a wonderful summer playing with Luke Wright at the Melbourne Stars and I really enjoyed his company on and off the field. He's hugely talented.
Sussex currently sit 7th in the T20 Blast South Group, with just three wins in the competition so far, while Glamorgan have won their last two home games at The SSE SWALEC and lie in 5th place.
Bailey said: The cricket seems to have started reasonably well for Sussex with a few wins and hopefully that can continue.
The Sussex squad is as follows: Bailey, Beer, Brown, Cachopa, Finch, Hobden, Liddle, Machan, Mills, Nash, Robinson, Wright (c), Yardy, Zaidi.
