Wagg Returns for Glamorgan against Essex

30 Jul 2015 | Cricket
Glamorgan welcome the returning Gaham Wagg to their squad for tomorrow's Royal London One-Day Cup game against Essex Eagles tomorrow at The SSE SWALEC (scheduled start 2pm).
After a pulsating victory against the Kent Spitfires on Tuesday evening in Cardiff, Glamorgan will be looking to move further up the group table in the 50 overs competition against an Essex side who they beat by 89 runs in mid-May at The SSE SWALEC in Championship cricket.

The dramatic win against the Spitfires was the Club's fourth-highest run chase in one-day cricket, and their best-ever at the Cardiff ground.

There were long periods of the game against Kent Spitfires when we weren't really in it, said Head Coach Toby Radford, the game was only going one way, but the rain break and an outstanding performance from Chris Cooke turned the game in our favour.

Colin Ingram got his first century for us earlier in the match and he and Will Bragg laid a foundation for us, but Cooke's innings changed the game.

Chris is a very attacking batsman, so you always know he can play an innings like that and he has done it before in T20 matches for us.

We've said in the dressing room, that we will go very hard at this competition and give it our best shot.

Unfortunately after a good start against Notts, the rain spoilt that game, but we got one point and a draw. Then against Kent, we always have close games against them, we beat them at Tunbridge Wells in the T20 off the last ball and had a tie off the last ball in Cardiff in the T20 last year and then won with just a couple to spare earlier this week, so we should have known it would come down to the wire.

We want to do as well as we can in this 50-over competition, but we've got five Championship games to go as well. We started off unbeaten and won four in a row, before the last couple of defeats so we still want to push for promotion or as high as possible finish at the end of the season.

Graham Wagg who has missed the opening two games of the tournament is in good spirits ahead of the visit of Essex, commenting:

I'm feeling good, the concussion is completely gone, I think it was only a mild case anyway.

I've had a decent gym session and been back out hitting balls today. The boys bowled a few bouncers at me which I appreciated.
