Graham Wagg confirmed his desire to return to action against Essex Eagles on Friday after suffering from mild concussion in last week's clash against Gloucestershire.
Wagg was struck twice on the helmet while batting against Gloucestershire in the NatWest T20 Blast match at the SSE SWALEC and was forced to retire hurt.
Wagg has started return to play protocols and if he gets the all-clear on Thursday is in line for selection for Friday's Royal London One-Day Cup game at the SSE SWALEC.
The all-rounder missed the opening 50-over contests against Notts Outlaws and Kent Spitfires, but opened up to BBC Sport Extra about the incident.
There were a few things going around in my head especially after the second blow, said Wagg.
Fair play to the Gloucestershire guys and the umpires, they ran up to me during the game to check how I was and fortunately it was not serious.
But it did shake me to my boots and I was glad to go off.
It was scary and the worst blow I have had as a professional cricketer.
I have seen some blows in my career but you don't know how scary it is until it happens to you.
I was not knocked out although it felt that way. Our physio Mark came on very quickly and he was very good in the manner in which he looked after me.
The doctor was at the ground and came on and said I had a mild concussion.
The following evening wasn't pleasant either and it felt like I had a couple of bottles of Grey Goose.
I had a banging headache and a sore jaw but I am hoping to be fit for Friday.
The return to play protocols included some questions, reading out numbers backwards which I am not very good at anyway.
So I was not sure if they could still say if I was concussed or not!
We have done the tests and everything came together just fine.
I am hoping to do some cricket skills on Wednesday and hopefully I will be fit for Friday.
This is just part of the game and it's important you put it behind you rather than dwell on it and have it in the back of your mind and thinking about technique.
If you are looking at a positive, I have got that sort of a break of a couple of matches that I would not have if I had not been hit.
To be able to good to get two games rest is good as the season goes on.
Myself, Michael Hogan and Craig Meschede have had a hefty workload this summer and we have not got the strength in depth the squad we need to rotate.
It's just unfortunate I got that break because of injury.
