Graham Wagg has signed a two-year contract extension with Glamorgan County Cricket Club, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2019 season.
Wagg joined Glamorgan from Derbyshire in 2011 and has become a key player in all three formats of the game for the Welsh County.
The 34-year-old all-rounder has taken 213 wickets and amassed 3,260 runs in 79 first-class matches for Glamorgan since his arrival, with a career-best 200 against Surrey at Guildford in 2015. He also reached the personal milestone of 100 career wickets in the T20 Blast this season.
Despite missing the start of this season due to injury, Wagg played a key part in Glamorgan’s run to NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day, playing in all 14 of Glamorgan’s matches and averaging over 80 with the bat, while taking nine wickets.
“I’m very happy to stay with Glamorgan for another two-years,” said Wagg.
“We have senior players with a good mix of young Welsh talent and I think my role is to help them develop their careers, as well as looking to continue to improve as a cricketer myself and putting in good performances for the team.
“I was feeling really fit coming into the season so it was difficult to then need an operation, but to come back and play in a couple of Specsavers County Championship matches and do well in the NatWest T20 Blast was very pleasing and I hope to carry that on next year.
Glamorgan Chief Executive Hugh Morris added: “Graham is a influential player on the field and in the dressing room.
“He is very destructive with both the bat and ball and can play across all formats of the game, which makes him an invaluable member of the squad.
“He also has a wealth of experience and knowledge at this level, which benefits the young players we are bringing into the first team.”
