Mark Wallace praised another great team showing and basked in his own performance as Glamorgan returned to the top of the South Pool in the NatWest T20 Blast.
First Glamorgan's seam attack dismantled the Middlesex batting line-up, before they easily knocked off the runs needed to achieve the modest target of 145 for victory with the loss of only one wicket at Old Deer Park, Richmond tonight.
“I’ve really enjoyed coming back in these last two matches," said Wallace. "The first 6 or 7 games I haven’t been involved, but it will be a squad effort if we are to get any success this season."
Wallace equalled his T20 best score of 69 not out to help the Welsh county to victory with 21 balls to spare and was satisfied with his personal contribution,
"Thankfully I’ve come in and got some runs tonight, but I’m sure when Chris (Cooke) is fit he will come back in.
“You’ve got to get a round in when you get a highest score, so technically I haven’t done that tonight, which will save me a few quid with London prices, so that’s good news.”
Wallace and Lloyd looked to be making the home of London Welsh RFC, home from home for the Welsh county, as they enjoyed a 125-run opening stand despite surviving a few scares. Once Lloyd departed on 49, Colin Ingram added some South African flair to take the Welsh county home in super quick fashion with three successive sixes.
“The way Colin Ingram came in and smacked it is unbelievable. I should have got out earlier myself and then we could have been on the M4 by now," added Wallace.
Next up for Glamorgan is a 'best of the west' clash with the South pool's other form team Gloucestershire. Wallace was keen for the home support to get behind the team as their quest for a quarter-final spot continues on Sunday at The SSE SWALEC.
“It will be good in Cardiff on Sunday," Mark said, "hopefully we’ll get the weather and get a big crowd in as it’s a bit of a local derby. I’m sure nobody wants to watch the Euros final now anyway so hopefully we can get the numbers in - it would be good for the supporters to come down to The SSE SWALEC and watch Glamorgan.”
