Watch 'Another Evening with Michael Hogan'

11 Dec 2020 | Cricket

Michael Hogan was the final speaker of 2020 in the series of popular Winter Talks held on Thursday, 10 December.

During an entertaining and honest reflection on his playing career in Australia and Wales, Michael reflected on his progression from District Cricket in New South Wales, to Grade Cricket in Sydney and State Cricket in Western Australia. He also spoke about how he first came to the attention of both Western Australia and Glamorgan, plus his move to the Welsh county during 2013.

Michael also spoke about playing for Glamorgan at Lord’s in the Yorkshire Bank40 Final in 2013, appearing at T20 Finals Day at Edgbaston in 2017 and his joy at taking his 600th first-class wicket  during the Bob Willis Trophy match at Northampton during 2020.

He also answered many questions during the evening including the wicket he valued most of all, why he wears the number 31 shirt, the identity of his favourite ground, his approach to batting besides comparing the intensity of Shield Cricket with the County Championship.

Further talks have been planned for 2021, with the speakers including Adrian Dale and Michael Kasprowicz, whilst a special programme of anniversary talks will also take place, starting in January with a reflection on Glamorgan Cricket during the 1920s and 1930s with the grandchildren and offspring of former players sharing their memories.
