Glamorgan Second XI Head Coach Steve Watkin was content that plenty of players enjoyed time in the middle in the match versus Gloucestershire at Newport.
Gloucestershire made 361/2 declared in their first innings, before Glamorgan replied with 289/7 declared. The visitors then reached 110/2 before rain hit Newport and the game was abandoned.
Watkin, the former Glamorgan and England bowler, said it provided a good platform for first-team hopefuls Harry Podmore, Nick Selman, Andrew Salter and Dean Cosker, who all featured.
Watkin said: "It was a good runout on a very good cricket wicket at Newport. The batsmen played well in patches and the bowlers got a good bowl.
"Harry Podmore bowled very nicely, he looked very dangerous and bowled with pace on a flat wicket. He’s looking for first team opportunities and by the way he bowled he’s looking like a good acquisition.
“Salter and Cosker didn’t get much of an opportunity unfortunately because the third day was washed up, as they would have come into the game in the second innings, but they bowled well.
“Second team cricket is all about giving an opportunity to the lads pushing for a first team place. Results are important but it is more about giving playing time to those who need it.”
The Glamorgan Second XI's next fixture starts on Tuesday April 26th against Yorkshire at The SSE SWALEC.
