We are both pretty attacking players - Carlson

Batters Sam Northeast (84) and Kiran Carlson (91) put on a partnership of 182 as Glamorgan closed in on Leicestershire's first-innings total of 320 on day two of their LV= County Championship clash.

The home side slipped to 63/3 after lunch before Northeast and Carlson countered with a flurry of attacking shots as the Welsh county closed on 305/5.

“I think that was our aim for the day ahead, to take those two wickets early and then bat the whole day and see where we are. It is nice to be within their score now with still a few wickets in the shed.

"We got into a nice rhythm, batting with [Sam Northeast], it is shame we didn’t both kick on. It would have been nice to be three down at the end of the day. But it doesn’t always work out like that. I was very pleased to put on a big partnership with him.

“Northeast is a very experienced man and very chilled at the wicket which I think I enjoy. Work off each other, we are both pretty attacking players when we can be so that is great.”
