Glamorgan's 2019 season came to a damp end as rain at Emirates Riverside and at Hove confirmed a 4th place finish for the Welsh county, their highest finish since the 2015 season.
After a 10th place finish in 2018, the side doubled their win tally and went eight games unbeaten to start the season in Chris Cooke's first year as Glamorgan captain and the skipper was proud of his side's progress in 2019.
“It’s pretty wet up here and there was a bit of overnight rain," said Cooke. "It’s a disappointing way to end but that’s not the reason we didn’t get promoted. We lost a couple of those games heading into the Leicestershire game so a lot to learn and a lot of positives to take forward into the season.
“At the start of the season we weren’t thinking about promotion - we just wanted to play better cricket, be tough, be harder on ourselves and we’ve done that. It should give everyone a bit of belief over the winter and a bit of belief that we aren’t just making up numbers but we can put together another promotion push.
“We are pretty gutted we couldn’t get promotion over the line, but it’s about learning and belief is a huge thing in cricket and we have that now in the squad, which is great.
“We’ve got a pretty big squad so if we can keep everyone fit then I’ve got no doubt we can do the same next year."
