Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph admitted he and his side were watching intently as Essex beat Middlesex – and the Welsh county\'s own game at Sussex was abandoned due to rain – to seal a home quarter-final tie.
Rudolph was keen for Glamorgan to move on from an underwhelming batting display on the South Coast, but was understandably delighted to seal a home quarter-final in Cardiff, to be played between August 8 and 11.
"It definitely wasn't one of our better batting performances, and sometimes in a shortened game you don't know how to go about your business," said Rudolph after Glamorgan had been bowled out for 101 by a potent Sharks attack.
Rain came with the Sussex score 30/1 after 4.1 overs – with five more balls needed for a completed game. As it was, the sides took a point each at Hove, while Ashar Zaidi powered Essex to victory over Middlesex at Lord's, leaving Glamorgan three points clear in second place.
"The win from Essex at Lord's worked in our favour and all the boys were glued to the TV watching that," added Rudolph.
"We play Essex now, they've got it all to play for so it's important for us to park this game, rock up and start afresh."
The Welsh county will now wait to see who their opponents will be. The current candidates in the North Group are Yokrshire Vikings or Birmingham Bears, with the side that finishes third in the North travelling to the second-placed team in the South.
Glamorgan travel to Chelmsford to take on Essex Eagles on Friday night.
