With Ashes fever already building ahead of July's hotly anticipated England-Australia cricketing showdown, Glamorgan Cricket aptly chose Australia Day (Monday 26th January) to announce the launch of its exciting new Ashes Exhibition.
Hosted at the SWALEC Stadium, the exhibition, 'Glamorgan and The Ashes', includes a number of fascinating displays telling the story of England-Australia Test matches and the involvement of Glamorgan players in Ashes history.
Ahead of the official launch, a group of school children currently on a visit to Wales from College Georges Brassens, located north-east of Paris, were given their own sneak preview.
The youngsters were the first to see the displays and enjoyed having an insight into the historic rivalry between the two countries, before getting into the Ashes spirit.
The exhibition will be a permanent fixture in the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket throughout 2015 and entry is free, except on match days when a ticket will be required.
Hugh Morris, Chief Executive of Glamorgan Cricket, said: One of the main incentives for having the Ashes Test return to Cardiff was the chance to engage with youngsters from Wales and further afield to create a lasting legacy of cricket in Wales. This exhibition is a great way of giving people an insight into the Ashes - one of the greatest sporting rivalries in the world - and hopefully it will inspire people to get involved with the game.
We hope that visiting the exhibition will help build anticipation for the return of the Ashes in the summer and we're looking forward to welcoming cricket fans to the SWALEC Stadium from both sides of the globe.
For anyone who wants to see history being made, a new release of tickets will be made available tomorrow for the first Investec Ashes Test Match from 8th-12th July. Tickets for the fifth day are currently available priced £25 for adults, £15 for juniors (which is fully refundable if no cricket is played) and there are also a number hospitality packages for anyone who wants to see the action in style.
