Glamorgan Fixtures To Be Streamed Online

Glamorgan will become the first county cricket club to stream live match video with commentary when their Specsavers County Championship match against Leicestershire begins at The SSE SWALEC on Sunday.

The Welsh county have committed to streaming all six of their Specsavers County Championship matches from the Cardiff venue free of charge on glamorgancricket.com as part of a renewed effort to make cricket more accessible to remote supporters.

Streaming providers Deeserve have brought the concept to fruition having already established a reputation as the leading providers of the technology in county cricket. Website agency 3bit will integrate the stream into Glamorgan’s new official website which launched last week.

“The Specsavers County Championship is the most prestigious competition in the eyes of professional players but the vast majority of matches are scheduled during working hours and we want to offer definitive coverage to those that choose to follow it remotely,” said Michael Temple, Glamorgan’s Head of Commercial.

“The technology is very robust and we were extremely pleased with the test broadcast during our friendly fixtures.

“The support of BBC Sport and BBC Wales in providing live ball-by-ball commentary helps to create a broadcast feel and we hope that Glamorgan supporters, and cricket fans in general, will enjoy the service throughout the season.”

Several project partners have contributed to the complexities involved in broadcasting the live stream. A high-definition camera was supplied and installed by Cardiff-based CCTV installers SGD Security, network connections were engineered by IT Suppliers Pro-Copy and BBC Wales correspondent Nick Webb will provide ball-by-ball commentary to accompany the footage.

Visit glamorgancricket.com from 11am on Sunday to access the live stream.
