Kaiser Chief Peanut Excited For Cardiff Gig

With less than two weeks until Kaiser Chiefs perform on the pitch at The SSE SWALEC in Cardiff, keyboard player Nick \'Peanut\' Baines has been talking about the band\'s new song, upcoming album and the prospect of playing in front of thousands in Cardiff\'s city centre.

'Peanut', talking to Buzz Magazine in their latest issue, was excited to join Everything Everything and Dizzee Rascal on the bill, in the first concert to be held on the pitch at the cricket ground.

He said: "We had Everything Everything support us at a show last summer. They're good guys and it'll be nice to catch up with them again. I think we were on the same bill as Dizzee a few years ago at V. It's going to be a great day down in Cardiff."

On their latest single 'Parachute' and upcoming album 'Stay Together', Peanut admitted it was exciting and 'infectious' for the band to be entering unchartered territory, as they release a new dancey, electronic style of music.

"It's different," he added. "We've taken a different step and it feels good. I hate trying to describe music but the energy on this record is infectious. It's got dancefloor vibes with big songs and big synths. A lot of Ricky's writing on this record is from a personal/political angle. No governments and social observations, but relationships. Something we can all relate to and lyrically that's where this song comes from."

The keyboard player also promised fans coming to the Cardiff summer gig that Kaiser Chiefs will be playing all of their biggest hits, such as Ruby, I Predict A Riot, Everyday I Love You Less And Less and Never Miss A Beat.

The Leeds-based band have had five Top Ten albums and nine Top 40 singles, the latest one being their tune 'Coming Home'.

Peanut added: "We'll be playing plenty. We don't shy away from playing our hits. We know they're the songs that make us, so there's no point in us being funny about it."

Kasier Chiefs headline Cardiff's On The Pitch series, joined by Dizzee Rascal and Everything Everything on Saturday July 16, with tickets from £45. Secure your place by clicking here.
