Cricket Festival History

Ever since the 1960s, Glamorgan have staged an annual match in North Wales at Colwyn Bay CC's ground in Rhos-on-Sea. This year sees Glamorgan take on Lancashire. Glamorgan are in fine form in the County Championship unbeaten so far with Lancashire in top spot as they look to bounce straight back to the First Division after a disappointing campaign last year.

Lloyd is from St Asaph near the North Wales coast, played his club cricket for Brymbo near Wrexham, and is one of three North Walians currently on the staff with Will Owen and Dewi Penryhn Jones. They follow in some distinguished footsteps.

Matthew Maynard may have been born in Saddleworth in the hills above Oldham, just on the Lancashire side of the border with Yorkshire, but he grew up in Menai Bridge on the beautiful island of Anglesey. A few decades further back Wilf Wooller, the Welsh sporting legend who captained Glamorgan for 14 years and also won 18 international rugby caps, was born and raised in Rhos-on-Sea.
