Three changes for Durham clash

4 Sep 2021 | Cricket

Head coach Matt Maynard has named a 13-man squad for Glamorgan’s LV= Insurance County Championship match against Durham at Emirates Riverside tomorrow.

There are three changes to the squad selected to face Essex earlier this week with seamer James Weighell and opener Nick Selman returning to the squad after serving their isolation periods, while batsman new signing Eddie Byrom is also included.

Byrom joins Glamorgan on loan from Somerset for the rest of the season before he completes a permanent move to the Welsh county next year.

Selman returns to the red-ball squad following a successful Royal London Cup campaign where he finished as the club’s leading scorer in the competition. He also struck 97 in the second eleven’s recent victory over Derbyshire in the Second Eleven Championship.

View from the camp - Matt Maynard

"Nick Selman had a decent white-ball campaign and contributed to a tremendous victory in the Royal London One-Day Cup. He was in contention against Essex and that doesn't change, nice to see he got runs (97) on a green wicket for the seconds against Derbyshire at Belper Meadow.

"Chris Rushworth is a great bowler, a great pro, but we have also put sides like Kent and Lancashire under the same pressure as we were under against Essex."

Head-to-head – Glamorgan v Durham

Glamorgan will also be hoping for better weather at the Riverside ground compared with their most recent visit at the end of the 2019 season when just 86.4 overs were possible because of rain across the four days before the contest with Durham was abandoned as a soggy draw shortly before 9am on the final morning.
